Erik and I started recording our third Itchy Fingers album in late 2019. We'd almost finished it when disaster struck in 2020, and for the next two years we didn't have gigs or rehearsals, and so didn't get round to finishing the album. It wasn't until early 2023 that the world of music really came back to life, and we suddenly remembered the recordings we'd made earlier, which were now gathering dust on a shelf somewhere. Well, we blew off the dust, recorded a few more songs, and in November 2023 we finally released the album. Hurray!
"Rash" - yet another oh-so-clever pun - contains well over an hour of music. Some of the tracks, like Zoe Conway's "Escapade in A minor", or "The Banks of the Allan" (usually put on our set list as "the Scottish jigs" because we can never remember the actual names of the tunes) we have been performing on stage for years already, while others, such as de Muskusos (a Scandinavian-sounding polska, "the Musk Ox", named after the animal that looks like the love child of a high-poled carpet and an armoured vehicle, and which is Tijn's second-favourite animal in the world), are entirely new. Even after almost twelve years of playing together, we still keep discovering new sounds that the two of us can produce. This new album contains a nice sampling of those sounds, and we hope that you will enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.
